Hello Friends,
This is financial aid time. First of all you should be filling out the FAFSA form regardless of your income. You have nothing to lose and the forms has been made extremely easy to complete. I am amazed that the changes have been significant. Bravo! There is no reason someone would not be able to complete the form.
No need to have your taxes done to complete the form. Just use last year's income tax number and then update your form when your recent tax form is completed. Easy as that. Financial aid officers really need to see your form and the sooner they can see your forms, the happier they are. Nothing is better than a happy financial aid officer. Can you imagine how difficult their job is, especially in this economy. Let's find a way to make your interactions with them easier.
If you get multiple merit offers from numerous colleges, I believe you should share those offers with all your colleges. Authentic negotiations is my preferred method of doing business. Let's say, one college is offering you $10,000 per year in merit money, but your #1 college is offering you only $5,000, please share that information in order to see if maybe you can get more merit money from your #1 college.
I know this is difficult for many of you. If so, give me a call so we can discuss this more completely.
Regardless, let's get the FAFSA completed by the end of the month, Jan. 31.
Best,
Brenda
