THE BEST VALUES IN PUBLIC EDUCATION
Hello Friends,
I am a big fan of KIPLINGER'S MAGAZINE. You probably are aware of that if you have been reading my blog. Each year the magazine does an article on the 100 schools that deliver a quality education at an affordable price. I especially like the rankings because the data includes the average debt at graduation.
If you read my blog, you will also know, that I advise students to manage their debt to be no greater than $20,000 over four years. Not for one year, two years, but total $20,000 for the diploma. That means if you take six years to graduate, $20,000.
It's all about common sense. Really. There are a few exceptions, but for 99% of you, $20,000 in debt is enough.
Now getting back to the point, the top three colleges are University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, on the list year after year, and always in the top three. University of Florida and University of Virginia. These three colleges are my favorite public colleges.
The picture above was taken on the football field at the University of Florida. . .No, we were not suppose to be on the field. I also had my two dogs with me. Breaking rules is not a good idea, but how they informed me that we could not be on the field was pure class. Polite, friendly, but firm.
I highly recommend anyone who is looking at a large university, UNC 18,000; U of FL 32,000; and U of VA 15,0000 to check out these three for starters.
There are 97 more on the list, so check out the site as you begin your college list.
